Before you send us anything

Contacting us by phone, by text or by email does not make us your lawyer. Information you send before we agree to represent you may not be confidential. Please don’t send details about your case until we’ve talked.

What we collect

  • What you give us. If you send the consultation form, we get the answers listed under The consultation form. If you call, text or email us, we get your phone number or email address and what you tell us.
  • What your browser sends. Like any website, our hosting provider receives basic technical information when you visit, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages you request. It uses this to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.
  • Cookies. We don’t use advertising cookies. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, may set cookies needed for security and to keep the site working.
  • Visit statistics. We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, which counts visits in aggregate (pages viewed, the referring site, country and device type). It doesn’t use cookies and doesn’t identify you.
  • How you found us. When you first open one of our pages, your browser keeps a short note for that browser session only (it isn’t a cookie): the site and page you landed on, the kind of site that sent you (for example, a search engine or AI assistant), and any campaign tags in the link. If you book a consultation, that note is sent with your request and submitted to our client-management system. It doesn’t include your name or contact details.

The consultation form

The consultation page is the only page on this site with a form. Above the send button it says that contacting us does not create an attorney-client relationship, that unsolicited information you send may not be confidential, and that you should not include anything you are not ready to share yet. The form does not ask you to check a box for that notice, and we do not store a separate acknowledgment of it.

These are the fields. Unless the line says optional, we need an answer before the request can go through. An optional text answer you leave blank is left out of the record we send. The text-message choice is sent either way, checked or not.

  • Who’s reaching out. You choose “I’m the person charged” or “I’m a family member or friend.”
  • Name of the person charged. We ask for this only if you are a family member or friend. It needs at least two characters.
  • BOP register number. Optional, and only if you are a family member or friend. If you enter one, it must be eight digits, with or without a hyphen, like 12345-678.
  • Case stage. Under investigation; charged, awaiting trial; plea or trial; awaiting sentencing; sentenced, in prison; on supervised release; or appeal or post-conviction.
  • Federal court. One of the 94 federal district courts, or “Not charged yet,” or “Don’t know.”
  • Court search. You can type a state or city to shorten the court list. That typing stays in your browser. We do not receive it.
  • Case number. Optional.
  • Charges. You can check any combination of drugs, fraud, guns, child-related, white collar, immigration, and other.
  • Short description of the charges. The box holds up to 1,000 characters. It is optional if you checked at least one charge type. If you did not, we need at least three characters here.
  • Next court or sentencing date. Optional.
  • Release date, if in custody. Optional.
  • Service wanted. Trial, sentencing, appeal, 2255 motion, compassionate release, clemency, supervised release / early termination, prison issues, or not sure. The form opens with Not sure selected.
  • Is there a lawyer on the case now? Yes or no.
  • Your name, email, and phone. We need all three. Your name needs at least two characters, and the phone number needs at least 10 digits.
  • Text messages. An optional box, unchecked when the form opens. You can send the form without checking it. The words beside the box are the consent described below.

Where a request goes

Sending the form posts your answers to /api/consultation/ on this site. The request is handled as a brandonsample.com consultation. Along with the answers, the browser sends how long the form was open and a hidden field labeled Website. The form does not ask you to fill in that hidden field. We use the timing and the hidden field only to screen automated submissions.

We do not pass a request on, and we do not add it to our intake records, when the hidden field contains anything other than spaces, when the form is sent in less than three seconds, or when the timing is missing or not a usable number. The log for that screen names this site and not your answers. When a required answer is missing or not valid, the form shows the errors and we do not pass the request on.

A request that passes those checks is submitted to our client-management system. The submission includes your answers, whether the text-message box was checked, and the site name brandonsample.com. When your browser has the short session note described under How you found us, that note is included. It does not include your name or contact details. We show a confirmation only when that system accepts the submission and returns record IDs. This website does not keep its own database of form answers.

When the intake service does not accept the request, we do not store the answers on this website. The form says the request could not be sent and shows the firm phone number listed at the top of this policy. A delivered request leaves a log line with this site’s name, the service you selected, the case stage you selected, and whether the session note was attached. That log line does not include your name, email, phone number, or the description you wrote. A rejected request leaves a log line with this site’s name and a short reason, not your answers.

The text-message box is the only consent the form records. It starts unchecked, and checking it is not required to send the form. If you check it, that yes is included in what we submit to our client-management system. The box reads: “OK to text me at this number about my inquiry and appointments. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” It links to our text-messaging terms and to this policy.

How we use it

  • To answer your request and decide whether we can help.
  • To schedule and remind you about consultations.
  • If you hire us, to communicate with you about your case.
  • To keep the site secure and working.

We don’t sell your information, and we don’t use it for advertising.

Who we share it with

We share information only with companies that help us run the firm, and only so they can do that work for us:

  • Cloudflare hosts this website.
  • Our client-management system receives the consultation requests we submit.
  • GoTo handles our phone calls and text messages.

We may also share information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights or someone’s safety.

Text messages

Criminal Center LLC sends our text messages from 202-990-2500. If you text us at 202-990-2500, or check the optional box on the consultation form, we may text that number under this consent: “OK to text me at this number about my inquiry and appointments. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help.” Checking the box isn’t required to send the form.

We do not sell, rent or share your mobile phone number or your text-message opt-in with third parties or affiliates for their marketing or promotional purposes. Text-message opt-in data and consent are not shared with any third parties, except the phone-service provider (GoTo) that delivers our messages.

How long we keep it

A consultation request we accept is submitted to our client-management system. This website does not keep a separate copy of the form. We keep inquiry records as long as we need them to respond, to check for conflicts of interest, and to meet our legal and professional obligations. Client files are kept as the rules governing lawyers require.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards, but no website, email or text system is completely secure. Please don’t send sensitive details by email or text.

Children

This site isn’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect their information.

Your choices

You can ask us what information we have about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it where the law allows. Email help@criminalcenter.com or call 202-990-2500. To stop texts, reply STOP.

Changes

If we change this policy, we’ll post the new version here with a new effective date.
